Barbados has no major personal safety concerns. HIV/AIDS is the second biggest killer in Barbados of people aged 20-45 – appropriate precautions are advised. Vaccination for a number of diseases – tetanus, hepatitis A, yellow fever – may be required, but are not always necessary: check with a doctor before travelling. Water is considered some of the purest in the world thanks to the island’s natural filtration, and all meats, food and dairy products are safe for consumption.
